The Utes nabbed first place in the Uintah Tournament due to a 70-30 win over the Union Cougars. Also in the picture is Lynn Bigelow, center. Searraboci ourraey crown The Uintah Utes garnered their sixth straight Steamboat Springs Tournament Tour-nament crown, Saturday in Colorado. Meeker placed second and Montrose netted third place. Steamboat Springs captured fourth place. Nine Uintah Utes advanced into the championship finals and five netted first place crowns. The Utes also had two men in the consolation finals. Eleven of the twelve Uintah tusslers placed in the tournament. Brett Brown garnered first place in the 98 pound class when he blanked Joe Robinson, a defending state champion from Soroco, 12-0, in the championship finals. Brown also pinned Smith of Steamboat Springs and nipped Joe Gutierrez, 6-3. Gutierrez pocketed third place in the 1980 state tournament. Josh Reynolds pocketed first place in the 119 pound class when he toppled Robinson of Soroco, 10 to 3. Reynolds also pinned Trujillo of Laramie and downed Hawks of Montrose, 7-2. Uintah's 126 pounder, Jeff Good placed first when he downed Chamberlain Cham-berlain of Meeker, 6-1. Good also pinned Hader of Grand Junction Central, and blanked Fields of Laramie, 6-0. The Utes' Pat Jenkins captured first place in the 145 pound class when he edged Talbot of Palisade, 3-1, Jenkins also pinned Jones of Laramie and Werle of Soroco. Uintah's Randy Smuin won the 155 pound crown when he edged Tony Seely of Meeker, 3-1. Smuin pinned Lollar of Rangely and blanked Flanagan of Soroco, 7-0. Monte Morris, Uintah, placed second in the 105 pound class when he was toppled by Scott Fandrich of Meeker, 13-3. Morris pinned Vanlandingham, and blasted Mora, Montrose, 16-4. The Utes' Allen Huber was downed by Montrose's Stryker, 15 to 3, in the 138 pound championship match. Huber pinned Cheean of Rangely. Brent Hales, Uintah's 167 pounder, was decisioned by Culver, Montrose, 5-1. 5-1. Hales pinned Knight of Laramie and Rivera of Steamboat Springs. Don Bohrer, Uintah, 185 was ,w Seely of Meeker in the match and he pinned Palisade and toppled Webb s ' Springs, 16-10.
