Show . 4 . 1 KENNETH SPEIRS Speirs services held Jan. 16 Funeral services for Kenneth Speirs, 87, who died, Jan. 13 of natural causes at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Donald Huffaker, Salt Lake City, were Wednesday, Wed-nesday, Jan. 16 in the Vernal 7th Ward Chapel. Family prayer was by Owen K. Speirs and the prelude and postlude music was by Ruth Walker. Alvin E. Weeks offered the invocation and a musical number "These Hands" was sung by Dorothy Peltier and Daun White accompanied by Melba Eaton. Obituary and a life sketch were by Bishop Kenneth Anderton who also conducted the service. An organ and piano duet, "Oh My Father" was rendered by granddaughters, Karlene Haslem and Joyette Speirs. Harvey McKee spoke and was followed by a violin solo "And This is My Beloved" by Dale Cameron. The closing musical "Now the Day is Over" was by Marva Lent, Lois Erickson, Dan and Ralph Walker accompanied ac-companied by Ruth Walker. The benediction was by Donald W. Huf-faker. Huf-faker. Interment was in the Vernal Memorial Park and Harold K. Speirs dedicated the grave. Pallbearers were Kenneth H. Speirs, Randall K. Speirs, Brent K. Speirs, Russell F. Swain. Michael G Swain, ana Jettery D. Swain grandsons of Mr. Speirs. Kenneth Speirs was born Sept. 30, 1892 in Vernal to Thomas and Clara Young Speirs. He married Meda Maud Carpenter in Vernal on Dec. 9. 1913. Survivors: wife, Vernal; sons and daughters, Mrs. Frank (Vonda) Swain, Copperton, Ut.; Harold K. , Highland Ut.; Owen K., Vernal; Mrs. Donald W. (Marcele) Huffaker, Salt Lake City; 15 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; grand-children; sisters, Mrs. Claire Thorn-berry, Thorn-berry, Los Angeles, Calif.; and Mrs. Naida Rice, Garden Grove, Calif. |
