David Bahn, pastor at Our Saviour. The seminar, entitled, "How to Study Your Bible' is open to the public and will be held on Jan. 28, 29 and 31 from 7:30 till 9 each evening. According to Rev. Bahn, this is a real need today in light of the renewed interest in-terest in Bible study among many people. peo-ple. "People are taking a new interest in Bible study", states Bahn, "and this interest requires some grounding if it is to be truly productive." Because of the increasing tendency for people to study their Bibles alone or without the supervision or aid of others, Bahn suggests that it becomes very easy to get bogged down in study or to come up with some incorrect conclusions conclu-sions about God and the Bible's teac-chings. teac-chings. Bahn further stressed the need for such a program or training because of the rapid growth of the Cults today. "When the Bible is quoted to substantiate substan-tiate a certain point, people ought to be able to know how to find out whether that is the Bible's teaching or their own," stated Rev. Bahn. Because of this perceived need, Rev. Bahn has compiled a set of guides for Bible interpretation as well as other pertinent information on Bible Study. Topics of discussion will include: A comparison of Bible Translations; the Bible as God's Word; practical rules for finding the meaning of a text; and suggestions sug-gestions for types of Bible studies. Rev. Bahn stressed that anyone who is interested in-terested is invited to attend this seminar. There is no charge for the three evening classes. |
