Show Ute drops contest to Murray The Uintah Ute junior varsity team was only behind by four points, 64 to 60, with one minute left in the game, but Murray scored six unanswered points to win the game in Vernal, Friday, 70 to 60. Murrray had a 22 to 13 lead at the end of the first quarter and had a ten-point lead of 35 to 25 after two quarters of action. ac-tion. The Utes cut Murray's advantage to two points, 52-50, with a 25 point explosion ex-plosion in the third quarter. The Spartans Spar-tans oulscored Uintah, 18 to 10 in the fourth quurer to win the game, 70-60. Murray went into a stalling game late in the final quarter. The top scorer for the Uintah Utes was Dave Emery with 19. He hit six field goals and put in 7 out of 12 free throws. Mike Johnson scored 14 points, and Gary Galley put in 12 counters. Also scoring points for Uinlah were Devin Wright, 6; Randy McNamara, 4; Dave Allen, 4 and Roger Walker, 1. Uin tah hit 10 out of 22 free throws and put in 25 field goals. Kurt Shumway was the top scorer for Murray with 18 points on seven field goals and four free throws. Also scoring for Murray were John Durfey, 17; limit lllilon, 11; Larry Fife, 11 and Kevin DcMoss, 8. Murray defeated Uintah's sophomore team by 211 points. Mark Gamble scored eight points in the game, mid I.ynn lligelow and Paul Hacking added six each. |
