Show L Vernal Glenda Landon Phone 789 2417 Mark Stringhams called to serve welfare mission Visitors last Saturday at the Alvin Bowden home were Mr. and Mrs. Mark Stringham. Mark is a nephew of Bryant Stringham, and his wife, the former Ruth Robbins, was a phys. ed. teacher at Uintah High School years ago and a roommate of Erva Bowden's. The Stringhams Str-inghams lived in Lodi, California, but since his retirement 2 years ago they have moved to Provo. They have been called on a welfare mission to Guatemala City, and will be leaving in February. A baby girl was born January 15 to Art and Polly Piva at the Uintah County Hospital She weighed 7 lbs. oz. and was 20 inches long. She will be given the name of Autumn Marie. ! Paula Sowards, a student at BYU in Provo, and Scott Sowards, a student at USU in Logan, were home for a visit last weekend. Mrs Kenneth (Margie) Sowards underwent open heart surgery January 19 at St. Mark's Hospital in Salt Lake i City. At the last report she seemed to be getting along quite well. i Mrs. Tess Siddoway went to Salt Lake City on Sunday to meet her daughter Dorothy and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. Dave Anderson of Idaho Falls, who were there to order merchandise. Tess returned home Wednesday. She reports that she has a very good neighbor, Jay Schulthes, who has been clearing snow from her walks and driveway and also for other widows in the neighborhood. Mr. and Mrs. Tim (Becky) Branscomb and son, Nicholas and Tammy Tam-my Taylor of Provo were home last weekend for a visit with their parents, " the Gary Taylors, and" to enjoy some time snowmobiling. Mr. and Mrs. AJan White went to Lehi to broadcast the Union game Friday night. After the game they' drove back to Provo and stayed overnight with Alan's grandfather, Franklin D. White . who is 94 years old. Saturday morning they went to the Provo Temple, and ( returned home that evening. State Senator Glade Sowards and Representative Gayle McKeachnie spent the weekend with their families in Vernal. They returned to Salt Lake City Sunday afternoon to resume their j duties in the Legislature's special session. ses-sion. ( Mrs. Douglas B. (Carol Jean) Hatch went to Salt Lake City Wednesday where she attended a meeting for the r secretaries of the multiple listings of i Real Estate. Thursday and Friday she J went to Boise Cascade meetings. Her y daughter Jean Monique Hatch met her on Friday and returned with her on i Saturday. 1 m |
