With assistance from the Roosevelt "ty Police Department, on Jan. 16 the sk Force executed a search warrant J650 North 100 East Apt. 5 in Vernal, ficers found drugs having an .imated street value of between 000 and $5,000 at the residence and Dderate quantities of metam-etamine. Incarcerated in the Uintah County jail in lieu of $2,500 each were Judy L. Bethal, 19 of Vernal and Scott Huff-ington, Huff-ington, 18 of Vernal. Both were charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute for value which is a third degree felony under Utah State Law punishable by up to $5,000 fine andor five years in the Utah State Penitentiary. Members of the task force participating par-ticipating in the investigation were Sgt. Robert T. Downard, Det. Darrell Lance, Det. Mel Curtis, and Det. Joe Boren of the Vernal City Police Department Depart-ment and Sgt. Jack Reynolds of the Uintah Uin-tah County Sheriff's Office. Members of the Roosevelt City Police Department involved in the investigation investiga-tion were Chief Cecil Gurr, Officer Wayne Embleton, Det. Jeff Stagg and Det. Kim Olsen. Task force members state that this investigation is only one of many continuing conti-nuing investigations of such violations. Sgt. Robert Downard also released results of a burglary reported Jan. 15, occurring at 142 North 100 East, Vernal; Ver-nal; residence of Karl Gabbitas. A search warrant was" executed on Jan. 17 at 140 North 100 East, the residence of Randy Haddenham and Rosemary Martinez. The stolen property was recovered at the residence and Haddenham and Martinez were arrested for burglary, a third degree felony. They were incarcerated in-carcerated in the Uintah County jail and are being held on $2,500 bond each. Investigating officers were Det. Joe Boren, Chief Jonathan B. Jones, Sgt. Robert T. Drug traffic 'Continued from Page 1) The investigation of a stolen motor vehicle and firearm from Dan Hughes at 247 West 200 South on July 29 resulted in two arrests. One of the arrestees was incarcerated in-carcerated in Duchesne County jail on Jan. 14, 1980. Charles Ronald Potter, 32 of Myton, Utah was charged with two felony counts of receiving stolen property pro-perty and possession of a firearm by a restricted person. Potter was incarcerated subsequent to the execution of a search warrant at his residence resulting in the recovery of the firearm. Further investigation by officers resulted in the arrest of Jesse Lcroy Davis, 23 of Roosevelt. Davis was incarcerated in-carcerated in the Uintah County jail and has been charged with two second degree felonies. The charges are theft of a motor vehi- cle and ihelt ut a tirearm, each carrying carry-ing the maximum sentence of 1-15 years in the Utah State Prison andor $10,000 fine. Davis was arraigned before Judge Kenneth G. Anderton of the Seventh Circuit Court on Jan. 18, 1980. He is presently incarcerated in lieu of $10,000 bail in the county jail. On Jan. 16, Marian Steele reported the theft of her stereo to the Vernal City Police Department. Cpl. Mike Hamncr and Officer Manuel Cantu were placed in charge of the investigation which resulted in the arrest of Jon Carl Weiser, 21 of Vernal. Weiser was charged charg-ed with misdemeanor theft. He was arraigned ar-raigned in the Seventh Circuit Court and pled guilty to the charges. Weiser was fined $150, sentenced to 10 days in jail and one year probation with the Adult probation and parole depar-ment. depar-ment. The Jail sentence and $75 fine were suspended on condition that subject cooperate with the probation depart- ment and restitution be made. The stereo and speakers were to be returned to' the owner. |
