Show Steam injection test to be made at Asphalt Ridge tar sands A steam injection program at the Laramie Energy Technology Center Asphalt Ridge tar sands project west of Vernal is planned to get started in March, reported Lee Marchant LETC tar sands project manager. The project was scheduled for last year and then for February 1980 and now the March date, said Marchant. The steam injection test will take place next to the reverse-fire test done several years ago on property located on the north end of Asphalt Ridge north of the Lapoint highway four miles from Vernal. Marchant said a steam injection well will loosen a 50 foot layer of tar sand 400 feet deep so it can be produced in situ from wells drilled around the injection injec-tion hole. The engineering firm Stearns and Roger is now working on the project. pro-ject. Marchant spoke at the Vernal Area Chamber of Commerce Directors' meeting Tuesday noon concerning his recent trip to Russia. He said the Russians Rus-sians appear to be about 30 years behind the U.S. in their oil technology. |
