Show County Business Firms Slow In Buying Licenses County business establishments establish-ments are slow in purchasing their 1954 permits to operate a business in Duchesne County, reports Porter L. Merrell, county coun-ty clerk. At the beginning of the week, only 13 licenses had been obtained ob-tained at his office. Total fees collected so far amount to but $482. Some $2,000 in this type fee is expected to be paid to the county for business licenses this year. The usual amount of license li-cense fees is $2,500; but licenses in Altamont Town, which usually us-ually amount to $400 - $500, will be. paid to the town clerk in this newly - incorporated town. Last year 42 licenses were obtained ob-tained in Duchesne County for those businesses operating outside out-side the limits of incorporated cities or towns. This year, 31 businesses have been notified that their old licenses expired Dec. 31, and that the 1954 licenses li-censes were due Jan. 1. This number includes licenses for dude ranches, which usually are not bought by the operator until un-til June or July. Various business license fees are outlined in the Duchesne County Ordinance No. 43, as amended. Violators of this ordinance are subject to fine and imprisonment impris-onment in the county jail or both. County business licenses may be obtained at the office of the county clerk at the courthouse. All licenses are issued for a yearly period except those to businesses operated but a few months annually on forest reserves. |
