Show Bonanza Boy Dies From Gun Wounds; 3rd To Die In Year Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Uintah stake center in Vernal for Garrell Dean Timothy, 16, son of Mr. and Mrs. LaVon Timothy, of Bonanza, who died Sunday in the Vernal Hospital at 2:15 p.m. from wounds suffered Thursday while hunting rabbits. Conducting Conduct-ing the services was George Bartlett, president of the Bonanza Bon-anza branch, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The Uintah High School junior jun-ior was hunting with two friends when the fatal accident occurred. The three youths had skipped school to go rabbit hunting, in Steinaker Draw, about four miles north of Vernal. Ver-nal. According to the report of Uintah County Sheriff Herbert M. Snyder the tragedy occurred after the youths had finished hunting. One of the youths had begun to unload his .22-caliber rifle when it accidentally discharged, dis-charged, the bullet passing through the Timothy youth's abdomen, the sheriff said. The boy was rushed to the Uintah County Hospital where he remained in critical condition condi-tion until his death. The death was the third in the family within a year. A brother, Jay Var Timothy, 21, was killed in the Bonanza mine disaster Nov. 5. An older sister, Mrs. Bill Richens, died of cancer can-cer about a year ago. Garrell Dean Timothy was born March 14, 1937, at Roosevelt, Roose-velt, a son of La Von and Ardel-ta Ardel-ta Maxfield Timothy. He is survived sur-vived by his parents and two brothers, Kay and Leon. Burial was in the Vernal cemetery. |
