High-tech cleaners arrive i BOUNTIFUL -- There was a time when dry cleaners were thought of as small, dark sweat shops filled with low-paid employees em-ployees working under less-than-desirable conditions. Sometimes your clothes came back just right, and sometimes they didn't. NOW THE computer age has come to the dry cleaning business, and that is nowhere more evident than at Bountiful's newest cleaners, clean-ers, the Golden Hanger. The new store, located on the southwest end of Five Points Mall, is the brainchild of Norm Robinson and Jim Pratt, both native Utahns who have built and operated cleaners clean-ers in several other states for many years. The Bountiful store is, perhaps, the shape of things to come in the dry cleaning industry. USING HIGH-tech machinery, much of which is European, Golden Gol-den Hanger is offering a high quality quali-ty cleaning at prices lower than much of the rest of the industry. The Golden Hanger prices being advertised now are permanent prices, not grand opening specials. Their parent company of all this. Dry Cleaners Resources Company, Com-pany, utilizes computer power in every step of the dry cleaning process. pro-cess. Each store which Norm and Jim have designed have come from computer input, analyzation of a marketing area and its needs. "FOR SO long, the cost of having hav-ing clothes dry cleaned has kept customers away," Norm explains. "We hope bringing these low everyday ev-eryday prices into the area will allow customers to experience expert ex-pert dry cleaning of their garments." gar-ments." Once a garment is brought in, computers take over with fast and accurate production of a customer ticket, which follows the garment through as many as 20 different steps or processes. THE DRY cleaning equipment itself, it-self, the heart of the cleaners, is also computer operated. The eco nomy of operation permits lower end prices to customers. Norm explained. ex-plained. Norm is a native of Bountiful, and admits that he "grew up in the ! dry cleaning business." Jim lives in Sandy, and has worked with Norm ' in developing cleaners in Utah, Colorado and Atlanta, Georgia.
