Show Fee change for birth certificates J By CHERIE HUBER FARMINGTON - Dr. Enrico A. Leopardi, Director of the Davis I County Health Department and Registrar or Vital Statistics for s Davis County, says the public needs to be aware of a fee change ( for birth certificates that was a re- suit of one of the new laws signed " into being by Governor Bangerter. ( The new law (H.B. 109) is part of the "Child Abuse Program Amendments." EFFECTIVE July 1 , the fee for a : search and a certified copy of a birth certificate will be $10. Three 4 dollars of this fee will be deposited t in the Childrens' Trust Fund and ' will be used for child abuse preven- i tion programs. Everyone has need of a certified copy of their birth certificate at I some time during their life. Proof of t age are needed for entrance to . school, for work permits, drivers " license application, marriage certi- ( ficates, welfare, retirement and So- cial Security benefits. MANY SPORTS programs re- quire a certified copy of a birth cer- s tificate as proof of age. Birth certi- ficates are also necessary to obtain C passports and as a document to i prove natural citizenship in the Un- ited States. C Besides increasing the fee for ( birth certificates other fees have been raised. Certified copies of death certificates will increase from $5 to $7. The fee for additional copies of birth and death certifi- cates will also increase from $1 per copy to $3. e |
