Show Women artists featured at art center exhibit . "From the Traditional to the Metaphysical: Utah Women Artists," is the title of an exhibit to open Sunday, Jan. 10 at the Bountiful-Davis Art Center, 2175 S. Main, Bountiful. The public is invited to attend an opening reception from 2-5 p.m. that day. A gallery talk will be delivered deli-vered by Cary Steven Jones, assistant assis-tant visual arts coordinator for the Utah Arts Council, at 4 p.m. Admission is free. The core of the display will be a historical survey of early Utah women artists curated by Jones for the Utah Arts Council. Also featured fea-tured will be the works drawings and poetry of Ruth Harwood, daughter of the prominent early Utah artist J.T. Harwood. Among the artists whose work will be included: Corinne Damon Adams, Florence Matilda Christ-ensen, Christ-ensen, Myrne Collier, Florence Bohn Drake, Irene Thompson Fletcher, Mabel Pearl Frazier, Rose Hartwell, Ruth Harwood, Alice Merrill Home, Olive B. Jen-son, Jen-son, Rose Howard Salisbury, Myra Louise Sawyers, Ruth Wolf Smith, Anna R. Spiess, Mary Teas-del Teas-del and Florence Ellen Ware. The show will run through Feb. 19. A series of free films on women artists will be offered free to the schedule is: Sunday, Jan. 24 at 4 p.m.: "Georgia O' Keefe: Portrait of an Artist;" Sunday, Jan. 31, at 4 p.m.; "Mary Cassat: Impressionist Impression-ist from Philadelphia;" and Sunday, Sun-day, Feb. 7 at 4 p.m.; "Louise Nevelson in Process." The Bountiful-Davis Art Center is a public non-profit arts organization organiza-tion serving Davis County and the state. Gallery hours are: Monday 5-9 p.m., Tuesday-Friday, 10 a.m.-5 a.m.-5 p.m.; Sunday, 2-5 p.m. |
