Show . i JOHN DAVIDSON AND JODI WEBB Fruit Heights girl takes second at beauty pageant By TOM HARALDSEN Editor FRUIT HEIGHTS Jodi Webb, 10 year old daughter of Allen and Julie Webb of Fruit Heights, has been honored by Utah Governor Norm Bangerter for finishing as first attendant during the Miss Junior America pageant in Los Angeles. The nationally televised pageant, with host John Davidson, will air March 22. Jodi earned her trip to Southern California when she was crowned Miss Junior Utah in the preteen 9-13 age division last June. While in the event, held at the Beverly Hilton, she competed with contestants from all 50 states in talent, ta-lent, interviews and achievements, state costume, aerobic fitness routines and formal modeling and -speech. Jodi-performed a jazz -dance-fire baton routine for her talent ta-lent and earned the $1,000 first i prize award for best costume for her "Morton Salt Girl" outfit. The top 10 contestants were interviewed in-terviewed on stage by Davidson, and the top five did an impromptu skit individually with the singer. Jodi's prizes and scholarships totaled $4,950. She will fly to Cincinnati and Hollywood for further auditions and training provided by Universal Studios Performing Arts and Career Development Centers. Jodi and her family appreciated the support she has received from her many sponsors, including Layton Hills Dodge, Morton-Thiokol Morton-Thiokol Salt Division, Barnes Bank of Kaysville, photographers Tom Anastasion and Mitchell Hughes, America First Credit Union, Un-ion, Dr. Moe Forseth, Dr. Lyle Mason, Dr. Darell Smith, Foxy Tan and Utah Bank and Trust. She is currently a student of Rhythm Company Model and Dance School. |
