Show Drug and Alcohol abuse clinic sponsored The first introduction that Jim had to Utah was as a reluctant patient pa-tient in a United Way sponsored Drug and Alcohol abuse clinic. He, like most alcoholics, didn't think he had a problem with alcohol. He knows now, years later that he did. He knows a lot of things now that he didn't know then. He has a much better vantage point, not only as a recovered alcoholic, but as program administrator for Davis County Alcohol and Drug Services. Ser-vices. Jim Kelly can see the end from the beginning with his clients. He understands what they 're going through because he's been there. That's one reason this program is such a success. Davis County residents revealed in a February, 1987 assessment that their two major concerns are alcoholism and drug abuse. These programs are the answer to that concern. The prevention, education educa-tion and treatment programs offer undoubtedly the most comprehensive comprehen-sive range of services provided by any agency in the state and span every age category. Education programs range from self-esteem and social skills training train-ing in the school ages to basic drug information and anti-drunk driving campaigns and classes for both adults and young adults, as well as pre-natal effects of drugs in growing grow-ing families and proper use of prescription pre-scription and over-the-counter drugs in the elderly. The treatment programs provide acute detoxification, sub-acute detoxification, de-toxification, residential primary treatment and residential intermediate interme-diate treatment, outpatient and aftercare. The Davis County Mental Health Center "Receiving Center" Cen-ter" is located at the Comprehensive Comprehen-sive Treatment Unit on the Layton Complex. The new primary re sidential unit, Addictions Treatment Treat-ment Unit, is located at 904 S. State, next to the intermediate residential re-sidential treatment unit, Addictions Addic-tions Recovery Center, 860 S. State, Clearfield. As the oldest licensed alcohol-drug alcohol-drug services provider in the county, coun-ty, the service provides screening, prevention, education, and treatment treat-ment for any alcohol-drug offender convicted within Davis County. A 24-hour, emergency telephone system sys-tem is available and admissions can be made at any time. That phone number is 773-7060. |
