Show Baha'is schedule event for World Religion Day BOUNTIFUL The Spiritual Assembly of the Baha'is of Bountiful Bounti-ful will host a celebration in honor of World Religion Day on Sunday, Jan. 17 at 7:30 p.m. The theme for the meeting will be world peace. The local Baha'is will host the program as an inter-community event for Baha'is all over the region. re-gion. Speakers from various faiths will present prayers and selections from their sacred texts on the subject sub-ject of peace, unity and harmony among mankind. "The Baha'i Faith accepts the truth of the sacred texts of all of the world's major religions," said Karen Webb, a member of the Baha'i Assembly. "In all of them can be found keys to inner harmony, to peace between be-tween men as individuals, and to peace within civilizations. In the days of Moses or Zoroaster, that civilization may have been no larger lar-ger than a tribe. Today that civilization civili-zation is the whole world, but the principles of love and fellowship of which all of the revelators have spoken still apply." Among the religions represented will be Christianity, Buddhism, Islam, Judaism, Hinduism, and the Bah'i Faith. There will be short, formal presentations from each group and a time for informal discussion, dis-cussion, refreshments, and fellowship. fellow-ship. At the time of this writing representatives of other faiths are still being sought. Individuals interested in-terested in participating should contact Paul Webb at 298-4507. For further information on location, loca-tion, call 292-4534. Refreshments will be provided, and the public is encouraged to attend. |
