Show Ronnenliamp to be named asst. stipeiintendent Special to the Davis County Clipper Sources for the Davis County Clipper report that Dr. Stephen Ronnenkamp, the 41-year-old principal of Davis High School, will be named assistant superintendent superinten-dent of the Davis County School District. In addition, two Bountiful-area educators are being promoted prom-oted to newly-assigned area director direc-tor positions. The appointments were expected ex-pected to receive final approval last night at a regularly-scheduled meeting of the Davis County School Board. Dr. Ronnenkamp will eventually replace retiring assistant superintendent Gayle Stevenson, a veteran educator who was an administrator at Clearfield High School when Dr. Ronnenk- j DR. STEPHEN RONNENKAMF amp began his teaching career at the school. Named as area directors are Dr. Nancy Fleming, principal of View-mont View-mont High School, and Dr. Russ Olson, principal of Muir Elementary Elemen-tary School. The directors will oversee school operations with Dr. Fleming assigned to Viewmont, Davis and Layton High (and their "feeder" junior high and elementary elemen-tary schools) and Dr. Olson assigned to Clearfield, Woods Cross and Bountiful High area schools. Dr. Ronnenkamp was selected from a "finalist" listing of between 6-8 applicants, two of whom were Dr. Fleming and Dr. Olson. A source in the Davis District office said that Dr. Richard Kendell was in a "win-win" situation due to the quality of the applicants. "The naming of an assistant superintendent superinten-dent is a weighty decision, but Dr. Kendell couldn't go wrong with this appointment since all of the candidates were high-caliber people." V A Layton native, Dr. Ronnenkamp Ronnenk-amp attended Weber State College and later taught literature and creative crea-tive writing at Clearfield High before be-fore accepting an assistant principal princip-al position at Central Junior High. After serving as principal of that school, he was appointed principal of Davis High last summer. In a statement for a school publication publi-cation several months ago Dr. Ronnenkamp Ron-nenkamp said, "If I'm not in my office, I'll be in the classroom since that's where it all takes place. The one thing that makes education so rewarding is seeing that spark occur when a student grasps a new concept." Dr. Ronnekamp holds a Ph.D. in educational administration from Brigham Young University and holds a high position in his church. m m whhiii in" .mi 1.1 |
