Show Karl R. Thompson dies Karl Randolph Thompson, 80, of 912 E. Side Dr., Layton, died Thursday, Dec. 24, 1987 at Humana Huma-na Hospital Davis North of causes incident to age. He was born June 17, 1907 in Riverdale, a son of John Randolph and Drucilla Hutchinson Thompson. He married Maudie Mae Hull Aug. 26, 1936 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He had worked for the OUR&G Railroad as a switchman. He also was a farmer, beginning in Nampa, Ida. where he farmed until 1951. He then moved to Stockton, Calif, where he purchased purch-ased a farm and also worked as a carpenter. He also purchased and improved properties for resale, including in-cluding the Circle J Motel in Roy . and the Lazy J Motel in Riverdale. He moved to Layton in 1973 where he resided until his death. He was an active member of the Layton 14th LDS Ward where he served as High Priest and as a Seventy. He held two stake positions posi-tions and served in the branch presidency. pres-idency. He served in leadership positions in all auxiliaries. He was church dance director from 1930 to 1936. He loved to sing and play musical music-al instruments. He also loved gardening gar-dening and took great pride in his flowers. Surviving are his wife of Layton; two sons and three daughters, John Roger Thompson, Mrs. Brent (Kaye Starr) Heninger, both of Layton; Gale O. Thompson, San Diego, Calif.; Mrs. Reg (Shirley) Hardman, Brisbane, Australia; Mrs. Robert (Glenda) Hicks, Kaysville; 32 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral directors, Lindquist's Layton Mortuary. Bishop Richard J. McMillan officiated offi-ciated at funeral services held Dec. 28 at the Layton 14th Ward. Thompson; musical selection, Glenda Hicks and children; speaker, J. Roger Thompson; "I Walked Today Where Jesus Walked" by Glenda Hicks, Kaye Starr Heninger, and Gale O. Thompson accompanied by Karen Timothy; remarks, Bishop Richard J. McMillan; benediction, be-nediction, Robert Hicks. Dedication of the grave was by Van E. Heninger with interment in the Ogden City Cemetery. Pallbearers were Brent Heninger, Henin-ger, Gary Heninger, Hugh Gates, Gordon Heninger, Don Burt Heninger and Robert Hicks.
