Show John Boyden Will Bid For Governor Position The first Utah citizen to announce an-nounce his candidacy for the office of-fice of governor of the state, John Boyden, who is a Democrat, got off to a flying start on his campaign cam-paign this week when he and his wife made a trip tinto the Uintah Basin to confer with leaders and workers of the Democratic party. Mr. Boyden, who is well known in Duchesne and Uintah counties, is the legal adviser of the Ute Indian In-dian Tribe. He visited with leaders of Uintah County Monday afternoon after-noon and came' to Roosevelt where Duchesne County Democrats met him and his charming wife at the Frontier Grill that evening. He related to the groups why he was again making himself available as a candidate for governor. In 1948 Mr. Boyden was defeated defeat-ed in the Democratic primary by the incumbent governor, Herbert B. Maw, by a very close' margin. That was the year the Republicans Republi-cans elected J. Bracken Lee to the governor's office, but lost in most of the other contests. Mr. Boyden claims to have the support of several sev-eral counties already, and is gaining gain-ing strength daily since making his formal announcement. He is making a tour of the state to get his campaign underway. |
