Show This Week's RECIPE . . . For a delicious accompaniment to your Christmas dinner, serve Frosted Lime Walnut Salad, a favorite recipe of Mrs. Merrill Wilkins. Frosted Lime Walnut Salad (serves 6 to 8) 1 pkg. lime flavored gelatin 1 cup boiling water 1 No. 2 can crushed pineapple ' (reserve part of pineapple j juice to mix with dressing) , 1 cup small curd cottage cheese j 32 cup finely sliced celery 1 tbs. chopped pimento Y2 cup chopped walnuts Y2 cup salad pressing Dissolve gelatin in boiling water. Cool until syrupy. Stir in remaining ingredients, all except salad dressing. Turn into 8x4x4 loaf pan or ring mold rinsed in cold water, and chill. When firm unmold or leave in pan. Frost top and sprinkle with ground nuts. FROSTING Blend and beat until smooth one 3-oz. pkg. cream cheese, 1 tbs. mayonnaise and 1 tsp. lemon juice. When ready to serve mix salad dressing and pineapple juise together. to-gether. Slice salad and serve on crisp lettuce, topping with about 1 tsp. dressing. |
