Show Observance Of Christmas Planned For Churches With Christmas coming on Sat-' urday this year, most of the churches in the Roosevelt area will be holding their annual programs commemorating the birth of the Saviour, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, Dec. 26. The exception to this will be the Catholic church, which has appropriate services scheduled for Christmas Day as well as on Sunday. A full schedule of their services will be found below. In L.D.S. Wards The four Roosevelt wards, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Latter-day Saints, will be holding their Sunday School programs at their regular hours, with the Third ward leading off at 9 a.m. Since all four wards hold their meetings in the stake chapel the schedule of the Sunday School programs in the other three wards is as follows: fol-lows: Second, 9:45; Fourth, 10:30, and the Roosevelt ward at 11:15. The( Second ward enjoyed their planned Christmas program in their Sacrament meeting last Sunday, Sun-day, which was arranged and presented pre-sented by the Seminary classes. They will, however, have appropriate appro-priate music this Sunday with service ser-vice and college boys listed as the speaker, is an announcement made by Bishop Ralph Shields. Time of their meeting is 7:30 p.m. The Third and Fourth wards meet at '6 p.m. Former Mission President Ray E. Dillman will be the featured featur-ed speaker in the Third ward, according ac-cording to Bishop Alva Snow. Speaker in the Fourth ward had not been determined by Bishop Merlin Sullivan. According to Bishop John L. Hear New Minister Members of the Roosevelt Baptist Bap-tist church heard their new pastor, pas-tor, E. R. David Pate, deliver the annual Christmas message last Sunday. However, he announced Tuesday that throughout the day next Sunday the life of Christ as it pertains to Christmas will be carried out in their Sunday School at 10, worship service at 11 a.m. and at their evening meeting at 8 o'clock. Similar programs have been and will be carried out at Gusher and Whiterocks where the Baptists have another church and a mission respectively. Catholic Schedule The Rev. I. N. Stancar, pastor of the St. Helen's Catholic church, has announced the schedule for the Christmas worship and extends an invitation to all the Basin to join in their services. December 24, 1954 Vigil of Christmas, Day of Fast and Abstainance Confessions 11-12 a.m.; 3-4 and 7-8 p.m. Mass 12 o'clock midnight, Sermon, Christmas Carols. December 25, 1954 Feast of Nativity of Our Lord, Jesus Christ Masses at 8:30 and 10:30 a.m. December 26, 1954 St. Stephan's Feast Masses at 8:30 and 10:30 in the Church, and at 4:00 p.m. at Han-na. |
