Altamont Water Project One Of Importance Mayor LaFarge Dastrup has been in Roosevelt negotiating final fin-al preparations to complete the Altamont city waterworks. The waterworks are now in official use. The system consist of a 40,-000 40,-000 gallon storage tank on 1Vp of a ten-inch, eighty-five ft. driven well. The well maintains 65 ft. of water and the pump capacity is 70 gallons of water per minute. The pipeline construction is 5700 feet long and consists of a six inch main, five fire hydrants and twenty water meters. The well has a capacity to supply sup-ply water for 60 families and 600 students. Templeton and Linke are the contractors and Ron Phillips of Roosevelt was the contractor for installation. The town board has worked long and hard with no salary or expense money for their efforts. The board consists of Mayor Dastrup, Das-trup, and councilmen Leland Stevenson, Ste-venson, Lynn Farnsworth, Waldo Hansen, and Lynn Hansen. Mr. Stevenson is chairman and inspector inspec-tor of the new project and Lynn Farnsworth is finance chairman. It has taken considerable time and i money on the part of each councilman. coun-cilman. The people of Altamont feel they have a very progressive town board. They were only one year old on July first. Mr. and Mrs. Grant Hansen were in Salt Lake City Friday on business. Mr. and Mrs. Evan Hansen Han-sen and Edgar Thayne were dinner din-ner guests at the Grant Hansen home last week. Mr. and Mrs. Max Hartman attended at-tended the Union High School faculty party Saturday night. Mr. and Mrs. Chester Hartman motored to Salt Lake with Mr. and Mrs. Floid Hartman last Friday. Fri-day. They will stay with Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Hartman in Murray during Christmas. Mr. and Mrs. Lyrad McConkie spent Thursday in Salt Lake City, shopping. Mr. and Mrs. Wilford McConkie were dinner guests at the Lyrad McConkie home Sun day, the dinner was a special birthday dinner for Lyrad's mother. moth-er. Mr. and Mrs. Ken LaRose had Sunday dinner at the Norman La-Rose La-Rose home in Altonah. Later in the afternoon, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Al-bert LaRose from Ft Duchesne, were visitors at the Ken LaRose home. Mrs. Leslie Orr spent last weekend week-end in Vernal with her daughter, Mrs. Carl Allen. Mrs. Willard Mecham spent three days last week in Salt Lake with her boy, Ted. He has undergone under-gone a minor operation, but is home and feeling fine at this writing. writ-ing. Mr. and Mrs. Ned Mitchell have recently returned from the East with a new Oldsmobile. Floyd Mecham and son, Jack, were Sunday dinner guests at the Anthon Rust home. |
