Cymbals clanged, horns honked, bells rang, and everybody in the school knew it was going to be a special week. JULIE HOGGE, working with Joy French and Connie Cook, planned daily events and treats. One of the most popular activities was a prog- ram of school-related knock knock jokes which the students stu-dents taped and played over the PA before each recess. Nancy Lawrence and Bob Tanner prepared decoupaged wooden plaques for each teacher. The attractive boards had a picture of the school and were personalized with the signatures of each child in the teacher's class. THE WEEK culminated in the presentation of a $500 check to Principal Hank Emery, Em-ery, to go toward the purchase of a copy machine for the school. The new copy machine will significantly aid teachers in producing papers of better quality in much less time and greater volume. Funds for the machine were raised through a variety of PTA activities in cluding after school movies. Assisting in the presentation of the money was "ET" -Centerville Elementary's Exceptional Ex-ceptional Tiger. The mascot is new this year and his appearance appear-ance always generates spirit and enthusiasm. ET's identity has been a well-kept secret with students guessing everybody every-body from the school staff to the PTA. The personality behind be-hind ET will be revealed on the last day of school. THROUGH ALL the fun and festivities, a deep spirit of appreciation for teachers was evidenced by the many parents who are involved in Centerville Centervil-le Elementary. The faculty of Centerville is recognized as dedicated, caring professionals profession-als who really love children and teaching. |
