Show levived Dart Bunch Challenges Wildcats ;:VSW1GHAM ipef Sports (OODS CROSS - Maybe the Davis victory tEistkst week woke a few people up hut x jds Cross coach Wayne Baker wasn't one L kho needed the wake up call. Tl SAID ALL along that Davis would ": Isome people before the region was over. ' fcy needed was for some of their players tt some experience and confidence in isdves." 'nothing else the Darts will come into tow n 1 plenty of confidence after their big w in at tlast week. This Friday the Darts w ill try to i off the high flying Cats as the tw o match s tie Wildcat gym. DAVIS WILL be coming in revived with win. All they needed was the confidence they could beat one of the good teams in bgue and they did it with the East win. e Gardner has settled on a starting five now those guys are just now getting used to ingwith each other. Plus they are young .their confidence level had to go up." !hat about the other team and their mental ioach to this game, after all they are coming P big win against Bountiful last week? , f're approaching this game just like all the . f important region games. Our players are . I headed enough not to be over confident 5 to Davis. We won't play games with them ; I just have to get after it" Baker confided. : 1 AS TO THE type of game they'll see the Wildcat coaches indicated a slow dow n on the part of Davis wouldn't surprise them. In their first meeting the Cats put on a mild press to get the Darts running. Woods Cross won the first contest between these two a few weeks ago 58-33 with Todd Robinson leading the scoring with 15 points and big Gred Houskeepcr adding 12. "They did as good a job as anyone defending Greg in that first outing" added Baker, "Everywhere he went three guys were on him but then that opened up the outside game for us and we took advantage of that. We aren't a one man team by any means although Greg is a great one." RYAN SMITH is the main concern for Baker and his club, "he hustles, as do all of Mike's players, all the time and he's become a good outside shooter. All their players have the ability abil-ity to score from the outside." Davis is in the fight for the fourth spot in region and a state berth, the East win threw them right back into the picture for that spot. The Darts met Viewmont on Tuesday and if they win, or won, that battle then they just might be flying high for the Cats. Woods Cross had to battle Highland in Salt Lake on Tuesday and the outcome of that game just may have a bearing on this Davis game. THE DARTS have improved and Mike Gardner Gard-ner will do what it takes to win. Woods Cross can't afford to take the Darts lightly, if they do then they'll get the same treatment the Davis five gave East. |
