Show i DUP Encouraged To Write Histories The Ellen Buckland Loder DUP Camp met Friday, Jan. 21 at lp.m. in the ServusDrug entertaining room. Captain Neva Newcomb conducted the meeting. PR4YER was offered by Wilda Hughes and the flag salute sa-lute was given. Luncheon was served to 14 present. Interesting Interest-ing pioneer relics of Adele Greco's Gre-co's decorated the table. Hostesses Hos-tesses were Adele Greco, Nona Pierce and June Wilson. Members were encouraged to write histories of their ancestors who were pioneers and to hand them into the camp so they could be filed. Minutes of the December meeting were read. A HISTORY of Minnie Re-mine Re-mine Roby, a pioneer, was read. When a young girl, she lived with her family jn Rochester, Minnesota. They moved to Colorado and traveled in a covered wagon drawn by horses. It was in-teresting in-teresting to hear of their experiences. ex-periences. The song, "Country in the West," was sung by the group accompanied on the piano by Dorothy Blampied. DARLENE LeFever gave the lesson on "The Handcart Migration" taken from the journal of Fanny Fry Simons. Many sacrifices and hardships hard-ships endured by their faithful pioneers in these handcart companies were related or told about in the lesson. THESE experiences and hardships our pioneers en-durec en-durec while traveling to Zion, in these handcarts, give us a greater appreciation of them. |
