The production is presented by Bountiful LDS East Stake. The Rogers and Hammer-slein Hammer-slein production ot South Pacific Paci-fic will be presented Feb. 24, 25, and 26 at the Valley Music Hall Regional Center by the Bountiful Utah Fast Stake. DOROTHY O'Brien is the director and also doing the choreography. Mrs. O'Brien has been associated with Bountiful Community Theater and Promise Valley Playhouse productions as an actress, singer, sin-ger, dancer and in production staffs. She has had eleven years of dance instruction, four with William Christiansen in the Ballet Department of the University Uni-versity of Utah. She was a member of the University Ballet Bal-let Theater which eventually became Ballet West. "SOUTH Pacific" will be her first entry into a full director direc-tor assignment. Barbara Man-full Man-full is designing sets, Allen Chatelain is music director and will conduct the orchestra. Brad Keeler is choral director and Ted Hayward is production produc-tion manager. Executive producer pro-ducer is Wayne Wright of the stake high council. "South Pacific" will be the fifth major theatrical effort produced as a community family entertainment by the Bountiful Utah East Stake. Previous shows were "Annie Get YourGun," "OurTown," "The King and I," and "Music Man." "SOUTH Pacific opened on Broadway in 1949. It was an immediate success and remains re-mains a favorite today with songs like "Some Enchanted Evening," "There is Nothing Like A Dame," "Bali Ha'i," "Honey Bun," "Happy Talk" and others that have never diminished in popularity through the years. The Bountiful Utah East stake's production will feature a cast of 80. Some of the area's most noted entertainment luminaries have been cast in principle roles. Nellie Forbush will be played by Grace Henderson Hen-derson who has a long list of television and stage credits as an actress and vocalist. Jan Costenbader, who last appeared in this year's production produc-tion of "A Christmas Carol" at Promise Valley Playhouse, plays Luther Billis. BLOODY Mary is aptly played by Winifred Merritt, who's great versatility has earned her numerous principle roles. She played Anna in the stake production of ' 'The King and I" and is serving on the Bountiful Community Theater Board. Larry Jensen, one of the area's finest vocal talents has been cast in the lead role of Emile Decque. Gordon Johnson, who has played supporting roles in the Bountiful Community Theater, Thea-ter, the Promised Valley Playhouse Play-house and for the "Company" in Salt Lake City, plays Captain Cap-tain Brackett. Brad Keeler who has many stage credits throughout the Mountain West and who plyed the role of Lt. Joseph Cable in Summer Stock in West Yellowstone repeats the role for this production. Craig Allen, who appeared in the stake's production of "Music Man" plays Commander Comman-der Harbison; Lori Hall, a talented young actress, plays Liat. All members of the cast are from the Bountiful Utah East Stake. PERFORMANCES are on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Satur-day, Feb. 24, 25 and 26. Wednesday, Feb. 23, will be a special invitational performance perform-ance for senior citizen groups. A contribution of $2.50 for individuals and $7.50 for the family is suggested. A pre-show pre-show presentation by the young people of the stake will begin at 7 p.m. each evening. THE PURPOSE of this effort is to bring wholesome family entertainment to the South Davis County area. Everyone is invited to attend. |
