That means shooting. Last Friday the Vikings of View-moat View-moat didn't shoot ver' well uhile their opponents, oppo-nents, the Rams of Highland, v. ere. The result js a 81-58 win for the Rams. THAT GAME now leaves Highland with a 2-3 region mark while the Vikes are at 1-4. Woods Cross leads the league at 5-0 followed by 4-1 Bountiful, 2-3 East and Highland and Davis and Viewmont at 1-4. KThis week will be a gri big one for us. We just jgjj have to forget about EE-J this Highland game. 55 -Viking Coach flr V'ewmont tried just about everything and everyone they could in this battle but in the long run the Rams were just too much for the local side. Usually it's the vaunted Highland Press that gets all the credit for their wins but to Vikings really weren't bothered by the Press. It wasn't a matter of the Rams having a peat quarter and finishing off the Vikings early out rather a case of the Rams just keeping the Pressure on the Vikes with some fine outside shooting and some nice fast break buckets. Highland just kept building up a lead starting ith a seven point advantage after the first period. t 1 DlRING THE fourth period the VikeS WC-e Lf rCei t0 play a man defense wnicn seemed to M to the liking of the Ram players who ran f weir passing offense to near perfection. As it turned out the Rams used their balance toS past the Vikingg as all five Ram starters tt into double figures while the Vikes only Wtwo. Senior Kevin Smith had another great outng finishing the evening with 24 points but "en the Vikes dropped off in production with senior guard R.J. Lunt the only other double man with 1 1 points. For the Rams sopho- "lore Terry Taylor led all scorers with a game h'gh 26 points. L VIEWMONT used a total of 16 players in Routing and one has to wonderjust who'll be playng this week for the club. It was more of a jse against Highland of the Viking coaches 2'ln8to find the right combination and to give lounger players some valuable experience, fsone Viking coach noted "With Davis beat-8 beat-8 East we still have a good shot at a state ntl so no one is ready to throw in the towel. W eek wi" be the big one for us-we I e to forget about this Highland game." Jhe difference in the Ram game was the Au ff. 'Ability to penetrate the Ram zone so ! ts had to settle for the outside shots and 7 ldes Smith not many Vikings had much suc-I suc-I J0"' there on the perimeter. Then when the i s did miss the Rams would be off to the 1 CS Wlth their patterned fast break. |
