Show Btfl. Will Host Figure Skaters The Utah Figure Skating Club has announced its annual ice show for May 5, 6, 7 at the Bountiful Ice Arena. TITLED "Newspaper Capers," Cap-ers," this 1983 musieal-on-ice will depict and pantomine events covered by the daily papers, ranging from the antics of comic strip characters to those of the international headline head-line makers. Doree Ann Tateoka, River-ton, River-ton, a member of the professional profes-sional staff at the Bountiful rink has again been named show director. This is Miss Tateoka's fourth consecutive year in that capacity. Her three previous productions were: "Broadway Magic," 1980; "Follow Your Dreams," 1981; and "Celebrate America," 1982. SPECIAL guest stars selected for this year's show are Jill Frost and Paul Wylie. Both are intense competitors and well known in national and international skating circles. In 1981, Miss Frost was junior ladies national champion. cham-pion. In 1982. competiting in the senior ladies division, she placed fourth in the National Sports Festival and second in an international competition at St. Gervais, France. She recently re-cently placed second in the Eastern states championships and is now a national competitor competi-tor for 1983. MR. WYLIE'S skating career to date is even more impressive. im-pressive. In 1981 he won the junior men's national championship, cham-pionship, then went on to international in-ternational competition and won the world championship. Moving up into the senior men's division in 1982, Mr. Wylie won the midwestern championship and has become a national competitor for 1983. Miss Tateoka has announced that approximately 12 solo numbers are available to UFSC skaters and that those qualified will make their selections Feb. 12. The cast for "Newspaper Capers" will consist of approximately 125 local skaters, ranging in age from learn-to-skate tots to senior adult members of the club. REGISTRATION for show participants is now underway and scheduled for completion by Feb. 13. The registration fee is $7. For all show applications applica-tions submitted after Feb. 23, the registration fee is set at $10. Rehearsals will start in mid-March. |
