The team mfS -indings after the two day event were All Star d! jymnastic (Provo) 337.30, Saltos (Bounti-,h, (Bounti-,h, 330.25, Rocky Mountain Gym (Murray) the aJ Utah Academy of Gymnastics Sindy) 320.25. 0 ER 40 gymnasts representing seven 'l0p ! '"is from around the state participated. In eels Children's division (ages 9-1 1) Jackie Allen ,1 'Tlhe Utah Academy placed 1st on three of nJ ''tor events and also placed 1st in the All-pnJ All-pnJ with a 65.40 combined score. Missy ,1, W from All-Stars placed 2nd in the A-A p, r "ith a 64.50. Yvonne Sonzini was the f0SS fc;o only entry in this division, and placed .( hi 4th on vault and 5th on floor, an impressive showing for a first year Class 2. In the Junior Division, All Star Jennifer Elkins who placed 2nd in the children's division divi-sion last year, returned to capture 1st place honors in the AA with a 70.45 taking 1st on beam and floor as well. She was followed by Jennifer Griesemer of Utah Academy with a 68.70. Both of these girls qualified to the Class 1 level for next year. Representing the Saltos in this division were Tonya Stewart, Janice Keel-er, Keel-er, Missy Edson, Julie Bulloch, Jana Craig, Amie Champagne, Julie Christiansen, Cacey Yeates, Jennifer Landward, Kathryn Kutasy and Susan Bradford. TONYA STEWART was the highest All-Around All-Around finisher for the Saltos placing 5th. she also placed 6th on vault. 9th on bars, 6th on beam and 8th on floor. Janice Keeler was 6th all around placing 4th on vault, 5th on bars and 9th on beam. Julie Bulloch placed 8th in the all-around, 6th on bars, and 6th on floor. Kathryn Kutasy placed 10th in A-A, 4th on bars, and 10th on beam, Missy Edson placed 8th on bars, 10th on beam and 5th on floor. Amie Champagne placed 10th on vault, and Jana Craig placed 9th on vault. The Saltos dominated the uneven bar competition out-scoring out-scoring the other teams in both the compulsory and optional sessions, and taking five of the 10 places. This ends the regular season for these athletes and they will begin training for next year's competition. The coaches for the Saltos are Jaynee Welty, Ned Lang, Chris Leech and Blake Starr. |
