Show Garden Questions Q.: My squash vines have had a lot of blossoms, but no squash setting - why? A.: THE first blossoms that appear on all vine plants are male blossoms. It is a flower on a stem only. As the vines stretch out and get older, the female blossoms and male blossoms will appear, then squash should start to show. This is true with all vine vegetables. Q.: The blossoms on my geraniums and petunias are being eaten. I see no bugs, what could it be? A.: IT is probably the Tobacco Budworm. The worms are about the size of the com earworms. They are often the color of the foliage, therefore, hard to see. We know of no chemical to control them that has been approved for this pest on ornamentals. or-namentals.
