Show ife Fop EiicgIIgocg At a mid-point meeting , recently for the Utah Symphony's current "Pledge for Excellence" Corporate Fund Drive, John Crawford, Jr., senior vice president and treasurer, Mountain Fuel, and chairman of the Utah Symphony Corporate Fund Drive told drive representatives representa-tives "that less than one-half of the $200,000 fund to be raised by Oct. 4 has been reached." FOR 1975-76, the Utah Symphony needs approximately approxima-tely $200,000 a year in corporate cor-porate giving, plus $100,000 a year in patron giving. This is the second of four progress meetings that will be held by Mr. Crawford and other members of the Utah Symphony to review the achievements and accomplishments ac-complishments of the committee. com-mittee. WITH TEAMS of five to seven members, some 40 prominent business people are making person-to-person contact with more than 300 Utah Businesses in an effort to raise funds to meet the $200,000 October goal for the Utah Symphony. In a letter to encourage Utah businesses to support the Utah Symphony's Corporate Cor-porate Fund Drive, Mr. Crawford said, "In addition to the tremendous enjoyment and stimulation that comes from its great music, the Symphony is one of our greatest great-est assets, for it has given us not only national, but international inter-national recognition and has been directly responsible for attracting desirable new business and industry to our state. ITS ANNUAL payroll of over $1,000,000 also contributes con-tributes greatly to our stability and well-being." The Utah Symphony comes closer to earning its own way than most majororchestras. It earns 70 percent, as compared com-pared to 50 percent for other orchestras. THERFORE, 30 percent of the Utah Symphony's $l 2 million annual budget for 1975-76 must be raised through contributions. As chairman of the Utah Symphony's 1975-76 Corporate Fund Drive, John Crawford, Jr., considers this position as a personal challenge. "I view it not as a responsibility, but as a responsible member of the community I accept the challenge that goes with it." MR. CRAWFORD told his drive representatives that "I believe the artistic cultural benefits brought to the citizens ci-tizens of this state from the Utah Symphony deserve the support 'of evtry individual because we all benefit directly or indirectly from them. There aren't many communities com-munities or states that have such a great goodwill ambassador ambas-sador to represent them as the Utah Symphony." |
