Show By LYDIA KILPACK 295-0021 Suddenly it was last summer! For the children a mixture of gloom and expectations expec-tations are upon them as they go marching back to school. The end of vacation always seems to come as a shock. The last time they'd looked at the calendar, it was June, with unlimited time stretching before them. And now, in what seemed like a blink of an eye the season is over. With the children, we all share a little regret at how short the long days of summer always are-especially are-especially this one! There a group of Centerville people, who for many years have been enjoying one beautiful beau-tiful day of summer together, also a day during the Christmas Christ-mas season. One day during the last week, they met at the Centerville park and seated at a long table and enjoyed a picnic dinner together. Members present included Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Williams, Mrs. Ada Randall, Mr. and Mrs. Hadley, Mr. and Mrs. Chris Stenburg, Mr. and Mrs. Milford Evensen. Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Wilson, Mrs. La Vaun Burgin, Mr. and Mrs. Cyril Sessions, and Mrs. Elzina Barton. Mrs. Camilla Boulton, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Everett and Mr. and Mrs. David Noakes. Mrs. Erna Meurer left last week for her home in Pennsylvania, Penn-sylvania, after a month visit with Grace and Ann Thornton. Thorn-ton. Many young men from Centerville are leaving on missions. Val B. Barton, the son of Blair and Luana Barton is leaving for the California, Fresno mission. David R. Burgin will leave the first week in September for the Language School in Provo, where he will be preparing for a mission to the South America-Venezula mission. mis-sion. Carl Rasmussen has received a call to go the the New Mexico-Albuquerque mission, and David Cook, the son of Dean and Helen Cock has received his call for the Norway, Oslo mission. David will leave for the Provo Language School on Oct. 18. Keith Cottle, the son of Lawrence and Bonna Cottle has just returned home from his mission to the England South mission, and he will be giving his homecoming talk in the Eighth Ward Sacrament meeting on Sunday, Sun-day, Sept. 3. Bonna Cottle is certainly to be commended. She is the mother of 11 children and grandmother of nine, and she is very excited over the fact that she has just graduated from Weber College. She is interested in the teaching of small children and her work will be along that line, for wnich she is well qualified. Sympathy is extended at this time to the Gladys and Lloyd Tidwell family, upon the death of Glady's mother, Mrs. Myrtle Neal, on Sunday, Aug. 24. Mrs. Neal is a former resident of Centerville. On Sunday, Aug. 17 Craig Burnett, son of Kent and Bir-git Bir-git Burnett game his farewell talk in the Eighth Ward Sacrament meeting, before leaving for the Language School in Provo, where he will be preparing for a mission to the Germany-Munich mission. mis-sion. Here to honor him on that day were many friends and relatives. Some out-of-town ones included his grandparents, grand-parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Compton of Morgon; Mr. and Mrs. Michael Burnett and family from Ojai, Calif.; Mr. and Mrs. LaMar Burnett and family, also from Ojai, Calif. ; and Mrs. McKay Hendrickson and family from Santa Paula, Calif. Craig left for the Language School on Saturday, Aug. 23. Robert Wayne Passey, the son of Robert K. and Lorraine Passey, gave his farewell talk in the Sixth Ward on Sunday, Aug. 24. Out-of-town relatives to honor him on that day, included Wallace Passey from Idaho; and Kenneth Willes from California. . .Robert is going to the Peru mission, and will be leaving for the Language School on . Sept. 6. Sympathy is extended to the Dean and Helen Cook family upon the passing away of Helen's mother. Brent Ogzewalla is recuperating at home after surgery and a stay in the hospital. Wishes for a speedy recovery are extended to Mrs. Olivia King, who is soon to undergo surgery. Congratulations to Jerry Cook, son of Dean and Helen Cook, who received his Eagle Scout Award at an award court held on Monday, Aug. 25. James and Estelie Reid and their daughter, Mrs. Willadene Fabrey motored to Mankito, Minn., where they visited with relatives, then went on to Milwaukee, where they visited with Willadene's son, Steven, who is working and attending school there. Kenneth Brown, has returned re-turned from a business trip to the eastern states, and while there was happy to be able to spend some time in visiting with his daughter, Susan and her husband, Gary Ogzewalla. Susan and Gary, former residents of Centerville, Center-ville, are now living in Irwin, Penn., where Gary is in business. Congratulations go to Mr. and Mrs. Charles Guerrero, who are parents of a new little daughter. Judy and Dick Clark and two small sons, Todd and Ryan enjoyed a trip to Mirror Lake recently, and were surely thankful for the help of good neighbors.
