Show Seedling Fruit Trees If you save a seedling peach you may get an edible fruit, but 99 times out of a 100 you will not get a desirable fruit from a tree that comes from a pit. THE REASON a farmer has uniform fruit off a certain variety is because the seedling was vegetatively budded or grafted to the variety desired. Otherwise, a 100 peach pits may produce a 100 different types of peaches. August is the month to bud; April is the time to think about grafting. If you would like to try our skill at propagation, call and ask for the publication "Propagation of Ornamental Plants." The methods are the same for fruit trees. |
