Show I'JB Seeds Concern Uith Stream Flooding Problems Bountiful City Council agreed to West Bountiful Mayor Jerry Thompson's proposal to meet and discuss the storm drain problem that plagues his city. However, no immediate solutions are in sight. BOUNTIFUL HAS not been entirely derelict in storm drain responsibility, having contributed one quarter million dollars to Pages Lane storm drain, said Mayor Swapp. Mayor Thompson said he is especially concerned with the proposed widening and flow increase of Mill Creek and the enlargement of the 5th West culvert, allowing an increased flow into his city. HE ASKED the Bountiful Council to consider the possibility pos-sibility of working together with West Bountiful, Woods Cross, Phillips Petroleum Company, the State and the County toconstruct an asphalt road as a waterway from 5th West to the railroad tracks where the water could safely flow into the Bureau of Land Management drain further west. 'I don't blame you for being tired of getting up in the middle mid-dle of the night to fill sand bags', said Mayor Swapp. He said he lived in West Bountiful twenty years ago, has many friends and resents the idea that he is unconcerned for them. THEf.E WERE floods there twenty years ago when I lived there before the building on the east bench', he said. West Bountiful Coucilman Arch Widdison expressed concern con-cern that the enlargement of storm drains would cause more problems and more property damage in his city. BOUNTIFUL Councilman Sterling Beesley said, 'we would feel more inclined if it was in our city. Your citizens should consider annexation." la |
