Show GYMNASTIC The tumbling and gymnastics gymnas-tics season has finally drawn to a close for local athletes representing the TAGS gymnastics gym-nastics club. The season began last November with a series of in-state gymnastics competitions and ended last weekend with the third annual World Age Group Tumbling and Trampoline Championships Cham-pionships in Canada. ALONG THE way the club recorded seven wins and three losses in dual meets and an undefeated season in triangular competitions against other clubs. After narrowly edging a fine Hawaiian club, they went on to win the Utah State Class III competition and placed second as a team in Class II. With this victory Kelly Lemon won the junior division and Karen Eckman won the senior all around title as the TAGS placed first, In-termountain In-termountain Gymnastics finished second, the Salt Lake School of gymnastics was third. IN CLASS II competition Kris Kinyon easily won on the uneven parallel bars and placed high enough to finish second in the all-around while nine-year-old teammate Kim Turner, placed fourth. With over thirty-five girls in this division both girls had excellent ex-cellent performances for their first year of competition. In the senior division of Class II, Becky Stamos won the state title on floor exercise and placed in the finals of each of the four events to take second ail-around. DURING U. S. Gymnastics Federation competition Shon-dell Shon-dell Swenson, 18, Liisa Lowe, 13, and Becky Hamblin, 12, competed at the Class I level in an attempt to qualify for Regional and National competition. Ms. Hamblin exceeded the qualifying score and went on to the Junior Nationals in Virg'nia while TAGS members whom were recently winners in state, national and world tumbling meets, include front 1 to r, Kim Turner, Tracy Swenson. During last December Liisa Lowe, Becki Hamblin and Becky Stamos had joined coaches Mike Dennison and Rick Kley in the Hawaii Invitational Invi-tational gymnastics meet in Honolulu. Miss Lowe placed first in Class II competition followed in second place by Miss Hamblin. Two groups rule U. S. tumbling - the AAU and the United States Trampoline and Tumbling Association (US-TA). (US-TA). During 1975 the TAGS won the state AAU title (winning (win-ning first in each of five divisions) and won the USTA Regional title (for Utah, Colorado, Wyoming, Idaho and Montana). During the USTA Nationals in San Francisco Fran-cisco the team placed fourth qualifying five girls for the finals and at the World Meet in Toronto Canada the team placed second to another U.S. team from Ohio and qualified four girls for the finals.
