Show By BERTHA L. MUIR 295-3742 The executive committee of the Jessamine Literary club met last Wednesday evening at the home of Miss Zara Sabin. Mrs. Amanda Anderson, Ander-son, club president, presided. Committees were set up for the ensuing year. The first meeting of the season will be the second Saturday in October. Oc-tober. Mrs. Eldora Peterson and daughters Lori, Loraine and Lorna enjoyed a three day vacation with relatives in Eastern Utah. Murray Davis is reported to be recovering from a major operation performed last week in a Salt Lake hospital. Many Davis County people enjoyed a day at the Davis County Fair held last Friday at Lagoon. A box chicken lunch, program and prizes made the day an enjoyable one. Aug. 24 the Bountiful Utah West Stake was host to the Sunday night fireside. Frank Weiter was the guest speaker. A large group enjoyed Mr. Weiter's talk. He is a temple worker and a retired army general. On Aug. 31 the Salt Lake Valley Multi-Region will be host. A member of the MPMIA will be the speaker. All firesides are held on Sunday Sun-day evening at 8 p.m. at the Regional Center. Mr. and Mrs. Carson Singley of Mesa, Ariz, are visiting family members and friends in Bountiful. Gordon Howard and five of his daughters were dinner guests of his father, Dr. Gordon Gor-don M. and Mrs. Howard Sunday. Sun-day. The Howards were here from Glendora, Calif. Mrs. Dora Trowbridge has returned from the National American Legion and Auxiliary Au-xiliary and Eight and Forty conventions held in Minneapolis, Min-neapolis, Minn, last week. The honored guest speaker at the convention was the President of the United States, Gerald Ford. There were 15 auxiliary members from Utah in attendance. atten-dance. Some honors were given three Utah members and units. Mrs. Trowbridge of the Bountiful unit was a page for the meetings. Mrs. Grace Carney of the Washington Terrace unit, Og-den, Og-den, was given an award for her report on rehabilitation. Mrs. Barbara Swapp of the Roy unit was presented an award for the Roy unit's scrapbook. Mrs. Trowbridge has attended at-tended national conventions in Boston, Atlanta, Houston, Portland, Honolulu, Chicago, Kansas City, New York, Chicago and Hollywood, Florida. She is well versed in all of the programs of the auxiliary. Visitors at the home of Bertha Muir last week were Mr. and Mrs. Vard A. Dalley and sons Christopher and Jay David, of Layton; Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Ledingham of Ogden; Dr. and Mrs. Wallace E. Hess and daughter Linda, Margaret Ledingham, Mrs! Clara Burningham, and Mrs. Ruby Garrett of Salt Lake City. Mr. and Mrs. Max L. Muir and son Jon, Mrs. Bruce Munn and son Jason of Brigham City; Mrs. Chuck Shaw and son Brandon of Boise, Ida.; Miss Vicky Power and Tom Power of Texas, Mrs. Emily Eldredge and Glen Ledingham of Bountiful. Mrs. Leah Pilling has returned re-turned from a visit with family and friends in Canada. Mrs. Stanley Muir, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Stringham and Mr. and Mrs. Theo Green spent last Friday in the Bear Lake area. Mrs. Sara Nell, daughter of Joe Davis and granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Da Ka Davis has been a guest of her grandparents. grand-parents. Mrs. Nell makes costumes cos-tumes for the members of the Boston Ballet. Mr. Nell is a government student at Harvard Har-vard University. The couple lives in New York City. Mrs. Davis entertained at a family party for her granddaughter prior to her departure for her home. Mrs. Rose Ann Graham entertained en-tertained her bridge club at a luncheon last Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Orlan Call and Mr. and Mrs. Jed H. Stringham attended the funeral service of their uncle, De Van Stringham, held in California last week. They visited with family members before driving home. Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Good-fellow Good-fellow entertained at a family, dinner for their grandson Brian, and for immediate family members. Out-of-town guests present were Mrs. Lynn Rose and daughter Laurie and Mr. and Mrs. Jef-fery Jef-fery Rose, all of Elko, Nev.; and Mr. and Mrs. Keith Webb and daughter Christy of Logan. Family members assisted as-sisted Leah with the preparation prepara-tion and serving of the food which was served as a buffet. Commander and Mrs. Walter Willey, directors of the American Legion and the Auxiliary, Au-xiliary, have invited all members and partners of both organizations to attend a steak fry at the Post home Thursday, Thurs-day, Sept. 4 at 6:30 p.m. The Legion will furnish all the food but the steaks.
