The classes were busy finishing up projects which were displayed at the Art Festival evening Tuesday, April 1. One class entitled "Pot-pourrie "Pot-pourrie of Art" was very special this year. The students were exposed to different mediums by three professional profession-al artists. Marilyn Caravaglia, who has her master's degree, has taught at the University and through the Utah Arts Council has been involved in the Artists in the Schools program for several years: With her expertise she afforded afford-ed the children an opportunity to create and experiment with paint. For two weeks the children joined Don Gomes for a rich experience in the performing and musical arts. Don, who has been' an actor, initiated and directs the Park City Players of the Kimball Art Center and is currently the coordinator co-ordinator for the Park City Arts Festival. - During the final week of the potpourrie class, the children were exposed to photography. ; Under the guidance of Vinnie Fish and John Schaefer, the students learned to use a camera and learned the fundamentals funda-mentals of picture taking. With the help of the Salt Lake Art Center. National Endowment Endow-ment Fund. Polaroid Foundation Founda-tion and Skyline Land Co., each child with a partner had 'a camera and a roll of film. Vinnie Fish, a local professional profes-sional photographer, has been involved in the art of photography photo-graphy for 20 years and has : exhibited her work professionally profession-ally for 10 of those years. Vinnie exhibits her work in art shows and does commercial photography for magazines throughout the world, The mini-art classes are in their third year. Coordinating this year are Sydney Reed, Jana Cole. Sharon Reid and Linda Singer. Third year coordinator Sydney Reed claims. "It's a pleasure to organize the Art Festival because both the artists and kids are so enthusiastic." Sharon Reid's and Linda Singer's excellent organization organiza-tion at Marsac has helped the classes run smoothly. Jana Cole has filled in teaching classes and worked with Sydney Reed in providing written articles. v Thanks again to all participants partici-pants for making this year's festival a success. i '.
