Giant slalom action got underway under-way in Snow Basin 331 - 43 while slalom action is scheduled schedul-ed for Park City April 5 and 6. Park City, Utah--19-year-old Heidi Prcuss, America's top downhiller in the recent Winter Olympics, underwent four hours of knee surgery March 27, 1980 to repair ligament damage suffered after, a fall in a make-up Nor-Am downhill race in Squaw Valley, California. .Prcuss.. who was fourth in the downhill event at Lake Placid, fell at the bottom of the downhill course after completing comp-leting her run. She was in Squaw Valley competing in the Alpine National Championships. Champ-ionships. Following the surgery in South Lake Tahoe, U.S. Ski Team physician. Dr. Richard Stcadman, said Preuss' knee is solid in all directions and all plains. She is expected to remain in a cast for about eight weeks and continue her rehabilitation program until the fall when on-snow training will be resumed. Earlier in March, Preuss, who scored five top 10 downhill results in seven World Cup races this season, placed second in the slalom event and fourth in the giant slalom competition.
