Show Arnold Wins Third World Pro Title Defending tour champion, Andre Arnold, was presented with the 1980 .World Pro Skiing Championship trophy, his third world title. No racer has ever won the championship champion-ship three times, yet Arnold" has earned the crowh three vears in succession. Arnold was also given trophies from SKI Magazine and SKIING Magazine for being the top professional racer of the season. Presenting the awards were Doug Pfeifer of SKI and Al Greenberg, the editor-in-chief of SKIING Magazine. . ; Awards were also presented to the racers with the highest points in each of the individual disciplines. First year pro, George Ager. won the; 1980 WPS D ov nhill t rophy, an award received last season by "Waller Tresch. The Slalom trophv was presented to the third ranking professional in the world, Lonnv Vanatta of Steamboat Springs, Colorado. The Giant Slalom title was added to the list of Andre Arnold's accolades. - Peter Dodge of St. Johns-bury. Johns-bury. Vermont was honored as Rookie of the Year. Dodge finished only five points ahead of his closest rival for the award. Norwegian rookie Stein Ivar Halsnes. In the Volvo Manufacturers' Awards for 1980. the winner of the ski competition was Atomic. Raichle received the ski boot honors, and Salomon won the ski binding award. Volvo presented trophies to each of these ski equipment manufacturers who sponsor racers throughout the season. ' The winner of the 1980 Ski Area Competition was Winter ' Park. Colorado. Otto Tschudi, Winter Park team member and retiring nine year pro,, accepted the award.
