Show Rec. Board Explores Needs Survey Ideas Dr. Benjamin De Hoyos, recreational education director at Brigham Young University, , spoke Tuesday night to the recreation board of Park City, ' At the invitaion of the board De. Hoyos explained how his department could conduct a recreational needs survey for Park Citv. The board feels strongly that a survey is an immediate need to assess which areas of , recreation are lacking" in v the community and which would be supported. The sampling is aimed at being taken this summer by University students stu-dents enrolled in De Hoyos graduate program for survey taking. Unlike some other surveys the group explored this study would allow imput from the recreation board in choosing many of the questions. Long range plans include an additional add-itional survey of just summer visitors to be followed by a survey of winter visitors. However the immediate, plans are for a survey of Park City residents, to take place this summer. Cost , of the survey to be taken by the university pro-; pro-; gram is far below what a professio'anl service would run; estimates ranged from $15,000 to $20,000 where as the cost from the university group would be just under $3,000. Tina Lewis chairman of the recreation board will go before the city council tonight in effort to secure those funds so that recreational needs survey can become a reality for the residents of Park City this summer, . |
