Show F. C. BURNS INJURED BY PASSENGER TRAIN He 1$ Thrown Under a Coach and Lo6es Part of Left Foot. Salt Lake, April 17. Attempting to jump from a moving train at the First South street crossing of the Oregon Short Line tracks yesterday' afternoon after-noon at about 5 o'clock, F. C. Burns, au employe of the Boston Consolidated Consolidat-ed smelter at Garfield, slipped under the wheels of a passenger coach, which crushed the left foot and dragged drag-ged him a distance of fifty feet, bruising bruis-ing him about the head- He was taken tak-en to St. Marks hospital In the patrol v ngon. where Dr. U. Worthington amputated am-putated a part of the. left foot. Mr. Burns is unmarred and lives at t-6 South Second West.. street. Train No. 58 was traveling at a good rate of speed when he attempted to Jump off. After ho jumped from the train, finding that he could not keep his footing, he attempted to cling to the iiLln. which action on his part Caused tnc accident. The train was in charge of Conductor John Morton. |
