Show DISPUTE A QUESTION OF CHEMICAL ANALYSIS Omaha, April 1C E. A. Cudahy, vice president and general manager of tho Cudahy Packing company, discussing discuss-ing the Topeka indictments, said today: to-day: "The dispute between the government govern-ment and ourselves is simply a question ques-tion of chemical analysis. For somo time we have been aware that the government gov-ernment officials have been taking samples of our butterine all over the country. These samples, they claim, show the infinitesimal use of artificial Coloring matter. We havo had similar samples submitted to the, leading chemical analysis before United States chemists and they have assured us tho butterine was not colored. Every man in our employ In our Kansas City butterine 'factory the only place where we make butterine. having a knowledge of the manufacture of the goods, has made affidavit that no coloring color-ing matter has been used. As the goods were sold by ug as uncolored goods and by our customers to the trade as such, there has been no attempt at-tempt on our part to defraud the government gov-ernment of revenue." |
