Show oo TAKE' LANDLORD AMD ALLEGED ?AL' FINED $.10 APIECE Charged with impersonating a landlord, Soth Bates, 22. of Toledo, To-ledo, Ohio, was fined $10 or 10 days in tho city court this morn-nlng. morn-nlng. Frank R. Owens, said to bo his partner, was given a similar sim-ilar sontenco. Owens wore a service ser-vice uniform. . Detective Everett Noble, who arrested the men, said Owens had "mooched" an elderly man for the price of a meal. "Sure." tho man said, "a soldier can havo anything I've got." Owen then "touched" him for an additional addition-al quarter and told Bates of the blghcartedncss of the man. Bates scraped an acquaintance and was asked If he 'knew of a lodging house. "Stay at mine," Bates said. He took the man to the Arizona house, signed his name on the register and took a dollar for the service rendered. "That's your room down the hall," he said to his "guest." Tho man entered the room pointed out to him which proved to be the place of abode for the real landlord, who, with his wife, had just retired. The unintentional Intruder was forcibly ousted without opportunity opportu-nity to make explanations until ho had found a policeman. Bates and Owens claimed they were working their way from California to their homes in Ohio. |
