HAND GRENADES FOR THE FRENCH Pittsburg, Pa., Nov. 17 Agents ol the French government have been trying try-ing for several days to place an order here for 9,000.000 hand grenades, but It was said by steel men today that thoy have met with llttlo success Only the shells were wanted as they were to be loaded in France, but manufacturers man-ufacturers who have never mado that sort of thing did not care to ex periment. More foreign agentB arc now in the Pittsburg district trying to buy steel products than at any previous time They Include men who are buying materials ma-terials for Australia, the Belgian Congo Con-go and tho Union of South Africa. Shipments to China have been unusually unu-sually large tho last few weeks. This export business Is not confined to war materials, although munitions constitute a considerable proportion. oo
