Show Rabbies Caused Death of Only One Patient Out of 38 Cases Salt Lake, Sept. 7. With a total of 38 cases of rabbles or hydrophobia hydropho-bia treated in human beings In tho past 12 months, only ono patient died, according to Dr. T. 13. Deatty, sec retary of the state board of health, who has compiled statistics on tho matter. That patient had not taken tho full treatment. Ho was wanted by the peace officers of another stato, who took him away beforo tho 21 days required for a full treatment for tho disease, after ho had boen bitten by a mad dog. Ho was reported re-ported to have died somowhero In Idaho. Dr. lleatty today received a report from Dr. L. E. Vlko, of tho University Universi-ty of Utah, that a head of n calf which had beon bitten by a dog supposedly sup-posedly rabid, had shown positive traces of the disease. Tho dog which bit tho calf had also bitten a man by tho naino of Morgan, who was at onco rushed to Salt Lake City for treatment. Comes In Waves. Tho epidemic of rabbles, or hydrophobia, hydro-phobia, according to Dr. Beatty, seem to corao In waves, and to bo peculiar pe-culiar to no particular season of the year. Dr. Deatty asks that caro bo taken In forwarding heads and brains of animals killed on suspicion of having rabies for tests at tho University ot Utah.
