Show if) It I f A TUT: THE BOY KING Although King Tut is better known to millions of Americans than perhaps any other ancient Egyptian ruler except Cleopatra, relatively little is actually known about his life. In 'Tut: the Boy King,' narrator Orson Welles speculates on events in the Pharaoh's life, based on the art treasures found in his tomb. The special will be colorcast on NBC Wednesday, July 27. Through detailed showing of the objects of gold, alabaster and precious stones, the special will attempt to re-create the life of Tutankhamun, about whom little is actually known. He reigned for aproximately 10 years, beginning at about age 9, and died at about 19 of causes unknown to historians. The special also delves into the subject of the so-called 'curse' on the tomb which some thought was responsible for the death of the tomb discoverer's sponsor, the fifth Earl of Carnarvon.
