Show A gm Letters I II M Editor Dear Editor: A great deal of squawk has been made recently about the lack of facilities or the lack of anything to do during summer months in Cedar City. I, for one, think the answer is very obvious. For as much time and money as SUSC put into constructing their baseball diamond, they sure are bound and determined to let it go to pot. I guess it has never dawned on someone that baseball complexes are to use, not to look at like a Tom Leek Painting. In case someone hasn't noticed there are weeds springing up in the infield of the new SUSC baseball field, due to inactivity. A lot of local people donate money to the athletic program at SUSC, and a lot of those people have children and grandchildren that could use the expanded summer sports programs that would be available if the SUSC field could be used. To say the grass is not fully developed and must not be "injured" by playing baseball on it is ridiculous. Just look at the upkeep of the well-used Cedar City baseball parks to see how easily grass restores itself. The time has come, gentlemen, to open up the use of SUSC facilities. Squawks have a tendency to grow lowder as time wears on, so the sooner problems like this can be alleviated, the better. Steve Rollo |
