Show Parowan Stake softball continues PAROWAN - Parowan Stake girls softball is providing action and thrills for fans attending the games held each week. On June 23 Enoch defeated Parowan first in the closest game so far with a final score of 11 to 10. Both teams gave their all and ended up with a very well played game. Players for Enoch include Liz, Tammy Jones, Shirlf.v and Margie Beal, Lori Jon ;S, Joy and Cheral Sco', Lori Grimshaw, Barbara and Collette. Each girl was hitting well and getting runs to maintain the lead. The highlight of the Parowan 1st ward action were homeruns hit by Colleen Adams and Laurie Riley. All the girls played well and team members included Donette Larson, Carol Hanks, Danette Davis, Collette, Diane and Colleen Adams, Holly Hyatt, Paula Jones, Karen Pendelton, Denise Pendelton and Laurie Riley. Coaches Cris Harris and Colleen Adams. On June 23 another well executed ball game was played with Parowan 3rd ward winning over a strong Summit team. The highlights were the homeruns by Diane Gurr of Parowan 3rd and Annette White of Summit. Members of the third ward team are Wendy Stubbs, Sydnee Stevens, Raylene and Gaylene Mitchell. Misty Bentley, Maria Robinson, Lanette Gurr, Karen Benson, Ben-son, Diane Gurr, and Laura Bryant with Minon Hatch and Charla Bentley as coaches. Members of the Summit team are Yvette and Cristi Morton, Jeanne and Janet Evans, Raquel Rowley, Anette White, and Carolyn White, Rene Dalley, Eva Allton and Shirley White. Ruth Dalley is coach. On July 7th Parowan 1st ward was victorious over Parowan 2nd. Second Ward team members are Jill and Janette Stubbs, Tyese Griffiths, Meliss Davis, Kristy Bess, Teresa Lister, Lailonie Calloway and Kim Jensen. Janet Bess and Donna Griffiths are coaches. July 7th Enoch was the victor over Paragonah with a 15 to 11 score. Statistics are not available for this game. Cheral Scott is coaching for Enoch. On July 14 Summit came on strong and ran up a lopsided score against Paragonah. Paragonah players are Beverly, Lisa and Mary Robinson, Lori Ward, Tammy Robinson, Sheri Judd, Cheral Motor. Dana Abbott, Jewel Motor and Laura Burns. Some of the team were at 4-H camp missing the game. The team is coahced by Donna Abbott with some assistance from Hazel Jean Robinson. On July 14 another lop sided game was played with Parowan 3rd ward winning over Parowan first. All the girls were good sports and enjoyed the game anyway. The umpires this year have been outstanding and have donated a great deal of time and effort to help out the league umpires who have participated are Maxine Stolk, Colleen Adams, Andrea Harris, Minon Hatch, Judy Talbot, Pauline Applegate and Mary Lynn Rogerson. An all star team will be chosen shortly and a game will be played with them against all the coaches and umpires. This should be an interesting game coming up on Aug.. 4. Also a championship cham-pionship and sportsmanship trophy will be awarded at that time. After that a watermelon bust and party will be enjoyed by everyone, everyone. Everyone is invited to come out and enjoy the remaining games on July 21 and 28. |
