Show William Cook Mitchell II decendentshold Reunion PAROWAN - July 2 was a special day for the descendents of William Cooke Mitchell II. Some one hundred and thirty of his decendents met at the Third Ward cultural hall for a reunion. After registration and visiting they enjoyed a nice program with most families being represented. A song of welcome was sung by Maytha Boardman, Roena Benson, Carlyle Mitchell, Kenneth Mitchell, Betty Schoppmann and Nola Palmer. J. Harold Mitchell gave an opening prayer. Mabel McDonald led the group in singing. Janel Taylor played a piano solo. Betty Schopp-man Schopp-man gave a tribute to Sylvia Mitchell Jones, the oldest member in attendance. Mabel McDonald, Elaine Duke and Ann Terrv sang. Bart Mitchell sang "Oh, My Father," accompanied by his wife, Dorothy. Bart also gave some history of William Cooke Mitchell II. Then a business meeting was held with Annette Wolford reading the minutes of the last reunion. Mary Jane Seaman was nominated as secretary for the coming year. A report on genealogy was given by Donna Jean Mitchell and Margaret Mitchell gave an account of progress being made on books. There was group singing led by Albert and Bart Mitchell. Some of the out-of-town visitors who attended at-tended were Bart and Dorthy Mitchell, Salt Lake City; Ronald and Ann Terry, Calif.; Pearl Hoyle, Cedar City; Bob and Jean Adams, Logan; Ralph and Elaine Duke, Provo; John and Mary Seaman, Cedar City; Bruce and Sallie Anderson, Ogden; Richard and Marilyn Bennett, Salt Lake City; Kenneth and LaRue Mitchell and sons of Yerrington, Nev.; Dale and Sharon Mitchell, Reno, Nev.; Church and Nola Palmer, Gardenside, Calif.; Nelson and Emma Jane Taylor and family of St. George; Albert and Janette Mitchell, Provo and members of their family; Parley and Josephine Neeley, Spanish Fork; Richard and Joyce Lindsey, Bountiful; Robert and Marlene Palmer, Arizona; Grant and Mable Mac-Donald, Mac-Donald, , Mesa, Ariz.; and others from surrounding communities and a large group from Parowan. Nola Mae Palmer played a medley of songs on the organ. Darryl Jones and Wendy gave a skit and Debbie Green played a trumpet solo. Leslie, Lori and Lynette Lowder did a dance. Cark Mitchell and children sang with guitar accompaniment., ac-companiment., Cathy Mitchell played a violin solo, accompanied by Annette Wolford. |
