Mrs. Shakspear, an employee of Knell's Motel, was singled out by her employer, Gayle Ence, as being a "thoughtful little employee... you couldn't find a better worker." Mrs. Ence said the honored employee has been at the motel for over 10 years. In making the award, Chamber of Commerce dignitaries S. Garth Jones and Ken Bettridge said the honor was to "single out employees that go out of their way to make Cedar City a nice place for visitors." Jones said the motel industry was particularly important im-portant "because tourists remember a dirty room for a long time." He said he wished the Chamber could honor more employees more often, but expressed hope that they too, would feel a pride in promoting Cedar City. The C of C also singled out Miss Averett, daughter of Alpine Averett and Mrs. Ouida Averett, who is an employee of the Chatting Post. Miss Averett was commended for being "informed and helpful" to local residents as well as tourists visiting the South Main Square. An employee of the Chatting Post for nine months, Gary Leavitt, her boss, said he is "really impressed with her attitude with the public. She is also always happy and bubbly." GENEMEVK SH AKESPE AK A belated effort by the Chamber of Commerce to spotlight local employees who are involved in the tourism industry, in-dustry, particularly during summer months, has honored Genevieve Shakespear and Charise Averett, both CHARISE AVERETT Both Miss Averett and Mrs. Shakespear will receive two tickets to the Shakespearean Festival performance per-formance of their choice in the near future. |
