Show Cedar Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi To Host State Convention at Zion Utah State Convention of chap-ten chap-ten of Beta Sigma Phi, community communi-ty sororities throughout the state, will be held In Zion National Park Saturday and Sunday and the Omega and Xi Omega chap-ten chap-ten of Cedar City will serve as hostesses. - It Is expected that approximately approxi-mately 173 women from chapters chap-ters in Salt Lake City, Ogden, Brigham City, Layton, Bountiful, Price, Draggerton and Cedar City will be in attendance. National representatives of Beta Be-ta Sigma Phi include the founder found-er of the sorority, Walter W. Ross at Kansas City, and Emily Smith Stewart, Salt Lake City, international interna-tional honorary member. Co-chairman for the state convention con-vention are Donna Green and Nedra Larson of Cedar City. Secretary-treasurer for the state gathering is Garfae Middleton. Registration will be under the chairmanship of Donna Cooley, Evelyn Williams is in charge of publicity and Shirley Haycock and Myrdith Rice are in charge of the convention programs Committees for each session of the convention have also been assigned consisting of the Cedar chapter members. . Marva Esplln and a committee consisting of Carol Brown, Ber-nlece Ber-nlece Rember, Mary Reese, Bonnie Bon-nie Prestwlch, Garfae Middle-ton Middle-ton will be in charge of the opening open-ing banquet Saturday evening at the Zion Lodge dining room. Registration will begin at 10 a. m. and a friendship hour at the lodge will be held at 5 p. m. prior to the opening banquet. A devotional service will be held on the lawn at the lodge Sunday :norning beginning at 7:30. Feat wed speaker will be Dr. Royden C. Bralthwaite, director direc-tor of College of Southern Utah. Chairman of this event is Tonl Jones and Yvonne Leigh and Betty Bet-ty Lynn Davis are ass'sting. Ann Hansen and a committee of Jerry Bulloch, Berlynn Brad-shaw, Brad-shaw, Gloria Fen ton, Jane Croft and Jean Cormani will be in charge of the opening ritual of the convention. Mrs. Walter W. Ross will be featured speaker and entertainment entertain-ment will Include organ music by Reed Berrett, a vocal selection selec-tion by Miss Bonn!e Jean Riddle Rid-dle and a dance by Mary Margaret Mar-garet Moore, all of Cedar City. Sunday afternoon session will get under way under the chairmanship chair-manship of Joan Skinner with a committee consisting of Lois Woodnury, Arna Cason, Rhea Heaton, Janet Whitehead, Artis Watson and Tonl Hunter. At this i session Mr. Ross, the founder, will address the gathering of sorority members. |
